" Henry Major is listed in Who's Who in American Art and in Davenports.
Major is associated most strongly with New York City, exhibiting at the Marie Harriman Gallery
in the 1940s. Henry Major also exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery Biennial in 1940,
and at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art Annual Exhibition in 1941. 
According to the Annual Exhibition Records of the PAFA,
the painting exhibited by Major in 1941 was titled The Philosopher."
